7 Lessons learned from 2016 (so far)…

1. Stopping the “I’ll do it myself” cycle: I’ve learned that being a mom has put me in the “check yourself before you wreck yourself” category of getting legit on what I can actually do all by myself. Getting smart mean getting help. I’ve expanded my team AND started trusting them to do the work that I hired them to do. I found that the more I asked for help, the more space I had to create MORE.

2. Protect YO’ self: Getting hacked sucks. I’ve spent the last 2+ months rising from the ashes of being hacked. When all your passwords are the same and happen to be your pets name, it’s time to change that. Scan your computer, even if you’ve got a MAC. When the guy at apple asks if you back up your computer, be the person who says yes—whether in the cloud or on an external hard drive, DO IT.

3. Get more sleep: Staying up late on a Netflix Gilmore Girl binge is for the birds, good sleep and making up well-rested is what all the cool kids are doing. Hal Elrod’s name was sent my way and his Morning Miracle has changed the way I start my day.

4. Work + vacation = no thank you: Can we all agree that traveling and vacationing are two very different things? Being able to work from anywhere in the world has given me the freedom to live life on my own terms. It’s ok to honor your work/life balance and take time off, it doesn’t mean you don’t care about your job, it just means that you’ll come back recharged.

5. Put body guards on your boundaries: I’ve deleted Facebook from my phone (then added it back), then deleted it again. Honoring how I spend my time is honoring myself and if I’m getting sucked into the social media vortex, it’s time to delete and unplug.

6. The how doesn’t matter as much as the vision: I’m always talking about the marriage between vision and action. The truth is that without clarity vision, it’s near impossible to take authentic action. My vision for 2016 was the speak more but I wasn’t sure how it was going to happen. Since January, I’ve been invited to speak for 4 different organizations, 3 podcasts, and 2 telesummits (check me out on The Own your Power Summit)

7. Explore More: Whether you’ve booked an overseas flight or find yourself checking out a book you might not ordinarily pick up, do it. There’s lots to learn by exploring and being curious. Just this year, I’ve become a big fan of Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich (I have an allergy to anything that feels “get rich quick”), instead of judging the cover, I found an endless well of resources on success. I’m usually a flip-flops and bikini traveler and I found myself falling in love with the wool-sock wearing country of Iceland just last week. Be curious, you just never know.

That’s all the wisdom from me this week, in the comments below I would love to hear from you:
