Thoughts about your appearance can affect how you feel about yourself as a person. There are many factors that influence your self-esteem. Your vision of yourself often builds up in early childhood and continues developing throughout adulthood. The factors that contribute to how you feel about yourself include your family, social relationships, media and cultural differences.
Danielle and Bailey dive into the mindset we have around body image, what is our self talk, where did the narrative come from and how those messages affect our everyday life.
Additionally they talk about the small actions we can take in our daily life to help foster a more accepting environment. Dieting and a drive for thinness are unhealthy actions and ideals that are often communicated to us and internalized from when we were kids. Once internalized, we may subconsciously perpetuate the cycle by passing those same ideals onto others.
You matter! Dive in and learn how to feel comfortable and confident in your skin. This will positively affect your work, social life, and every other aspect of your life.

Key Takeaways:
- It doesn’t matter what your body looks like, that doesn’t make you beautiful. You are a beautiful person by what you are.
- Be comfortable in your skin.
- A scale doesn’t define your worth and it doesn’t define the health of your body either.
- You don’t have to wait to be beautiful, you already are beautiful.
- Don’t perpetuate negative narratives, instead foster a more accepting environment.
- Being skinny isn’t the pinnacle of success, honor yourself where you are at.
- Exercise in a way that makes you feel good.
- Have a different relationship with your body. Listen to it.
- Dance and move your body in a different way without expectation about what you’re supposed to look like
- In absence of a narrative we make things up.
- Work on your affirmations. If you talk negatively to your body you are not going to have a good relationship with it.
