It was killing me.
The late night was when I got to “relax,” staring at the laptop glow, binge watching Gossip Girl far after my hubby was asleep, grabbing late-night snacks, falling asleep on the couch just to crawl to bed before dawn just to get up at 6am to do it all over again.
Feeling uninspired by my work, I told myself that after dinner I could unwind, kick my shoes off and relax but there was a domino effect.
Because I was working exhaustive hours, sometimes until 9 or 10 at night, I would come home to a late dinner. After dinner, my hubby & I would watch an episode of Lost, finishing close to 11pm. After he went to bed I would still feel a bit empty, overwhelmed, and stressed out from my day. I would say, “Oh, I’ll be right up, I’m just going to relax a bit before bed.”
Without any vision of how I wanted to feel or what I wanted my nighttime routine to look like, I turned on the Netflix to tune out to life a bit.
I was trying to fill my cup. I felt so drained & bored by doing work that was uninspiring to me that I numbed out on crappy tv. The late nights led to tired mornings and generally feeling exhausted throughout the day.
Feeling tired, the whole day I would swear I wouldn’t do it again but then I would because I didn’t have any other coping mechanisms to handle my stress, anxiety, and lack of inspiration in my life.
It sucked.
