The only way to figure out where you are headed is to untangle yourself from the things that aren’t working for you.

figuring out what holds you back is the most important question. Without figuring that out, we are prone to the same habits and routines that have held us back for years. Make a change.

I got my butt kicked surfing today. My daughter has been at Surf camp all week and asked me to get in the water with them so I hopped in on the last day.
I’ve been surfing for years, probably more than 15. But today I only caught one wave.
I kept crashing, slipping, nose diving, falling off the back. It basically felt like today was the first time I ever surfed. It was humbling AF.
…and then annoyingly I remembered the power of resilience. While I wanted to pout and quit and be super pissed off with myself, I remembered two things – the power of resilience and the power of play.
I think when we stop taking ourselves so seriously we can bounce back quicker, and enjoy the moments that don’t quite shake out the way that we anticipated.
1. It’s ok to be annoyed
2. Keep trying, enjoy the moment
3. Don’t take yourself so seriously
PS I got all the way to the beach before I realized that there were no fins on my board and I had to use someone else’s board. Life is humbling sometimes.
