We just entered the first Mercury Retrograde for 2015. It usually throws me off kilter for a few weeks. Mercury Retrograde is notorious for making things go awry–from plans to mechanics, communication, and technology. We are often cautioned not to launch new endeavors, sign contracts, or take any big trips during Mercury Retrograde. Mercury Retrograde is a time when the planet is traveling backward in the sky.
Occurring for three weeks, nearly three times per year, it’s been known to cause a bit of havoc. I have had enough run-ins with Mercury Retrograde (flat tires, canceled flights, emails lost in the interweb, etc.) that I knew much of this cautionary tale to be true until now. The first cycle of Mercury Retrograde for 2015 and I have decided to embrace each other. We’re going to work together to achieve a sense of ease and calm.
The way this Mercury Retrograde cycle has started was really feeling good in an especially familiar way. In the comfy sweater and favorite old book sorta-way, you know…that story where you know it has a happy ending so you welcome the opportunity to read it again. Join me in taking this time to reflect and reconnect. Here are my top 3 tips for Reconnecting with Retrograde:
1. Reconnect
My Hubby and I have been diving into some fabulous new recipes from Integrative Wellness Group. From taking trips to the grocery store to laughing and mixing it up in the kitchen, we both commented that it felt like we just started dating.
Mercury Retrograde is a fantastic time to reconnect. To remember the magic that you share with your partner or best friend who knows you so well. We often get caught up in our day-to-day operations that we don’t take time to deeply connect with our loved ones. Mercury Retrograde allows us the time to reconnect and rekindle love, friendship, and the deep sense of connection that we have when we know someone so well that we can finish their sentences.
Make a date with someone special in your life, better yet–recreate one of your favorite days together, whether it’s a movie night with mom or a romantic first date rekindling love after ten years together.
2. Detox Your Life
Clean out your closet, your car, yoga bag, and even your Facebook ‘friends’ list. Mercury Retrograde is a great time to take stock in what you have, what you need, and what you can get rid of. Reflect on where you need to purge.
Beyond just stuff, detox your life. Mercury Retrograde helps you to reflect and consider the areas of your life where you are holding onto anger, resentment, fear, or frustration. It’s a time to let go of the toxic feelings that no longer serve you. When we let go, we give ourselves the opportunity to let in what we do need–love, peace, serenity, and a sense of wellbeing and connectedness.
3. Revisit
Feeling like you’ve heard this before? Chances are that you have, get ready for a few weeks of deja vu. We need to take time to revisit some old stories and experiences to truly absorb the lessons.
Ever feel like you are moving a million miles an hour, Mercury Retrograde is a great humbler–forcing us to SLOW DOWN. Making universal time to revisit the lessons provided by life. Listen to what that last job was telling you, or that break-up, or even the last argument you had. Revisit that moment, look at it closer, as a snapshot or chapter you once read.
Step back and really listen to the lesson this time. What did you see in the picture or read between the lines? When we use Mercury Retrograde as a time to reconnect, reflect, and revisit, we provide ourselves with a unique opportunity for a “do-over.” A second chance to love, learn, or listen to this wonderful life full of lessons.
Life is a journey, we each have our own unique path, so it’s up to us to create the best experiences that will keep us smiling for a lifetime. I would love the opportunity to share this journey with you, let’s reflect and connect for a free consultation call.
